Chlorella Seaweed

Scientific name
Chlorella vulgaris

History of plant/fun facts

Chlorella is often referred to as a “superfood” due to its incredibly rich nutrient profile. It is a complete protein source, containing all nine essential amino acids, and is also high in vitamins (especially B12), minerals, and chlorophyll. Chlorella has one of the highest concentrations of chlorophyll in the plant kingdom, which can play a role in detoxifying the body, particularly by helping to remove heavy metals.

Clinical uses

By scavenging free radicals, the many antioxidants in chlorella help to prevent oxidative stress, which can damage the skin and accelerate aging. Chlorella is known for its high levels of essential fatty acids, which help to hydrate the skin and promote the repair of damaged skin barriers. These fatty acids also support the regeneration of skin cells and can help prevent moisture loss, which is crucial for maintaining skin elasticity and reducing the appearance of dry, flaky skin.
