Palm oil
Scientific name
Elaeis guineensis
History of plant/fun facts
The oil palm has been an integral part of West African cultures for thousands of years. Traditional methods involved hand-processing the fruit to extract oil for culinary and medicinal purposes. In 1898, the B.J. Johnson Soap Company introduced "Palmolive" soap, combining palm and olive oils. This product gained immense popularity, leading the company to rebrand itself as Palmolive. We only use an ethically sourced organic palm oil.
Clinical uses
Palm oil contributes to a harder soap bar with a stable lather, improving durability and user experience. Rich in tocotrienols (a form of Vitamin E) and other phytonutrients, palm oil exhibits antioxidant properties that can protect the skin from oxidative stress. Additionally, its balanced fatty acid composition aids in moisturizing the skin.
