Castor seed oil is derived from the seeds of the Ricinus communis plant, and was initially used by the Egyptians for skin care, with Cleopatra using it ritually. Indian Ayurvedic medicine recommends castor seed oil for therapeutic uses such as to promote skin healing, to reduce scar formation, and to rejunivate the skin
Clinical uses
Castor oil is rich in ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid which helps lock in and seal skin moisture. This makes it a great option for dry skin, eczema, and psoriasis. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, making it beneficial for soothing scalp irritation from cradle cap or dandruff. Ricinoleic acid and helps to increase collagen and tissue production, as well as circulation to the scalp, which helps promote healing and hair growth.
